Marshmallow Treats
Equipment
- 13 x 9-inch pan
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup margarine or butter
- 1 package (10 oz, about 40) regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1/3 cup peanut butter optional variation
Instructions
- Melt the margarine in a large saucepan over low heat.
- Add the marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
- Cook 3/4 minutes longer, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
- Variation: Add 1/3 cup peanut butter.
- Add the cereal. Stir until well coated.
- Using a buttered spatula or waxed paper, press the mixture evenly into a buttered 13 x 9-inch pan.
- Cut into squares when cool.
Notes
Yield: 24 squares, 2 x 2 inches.
